How to convert JPG to PNG
- Click the box above or drag your JPG files onto it. You can add several at once.
- Each image is converted to PNG immediately. The new file size is shown next to the original.
- Click Download on a single file or Download all to save everything.
Why convert JPG to PNG?
- You need to edit an image repeatedly. Every time a JPG is re-saved it loses a little more quality; a PNG can be edited and saved as many times as you like with no further loss.
- You want to add transparency later, for example cutting a product out of its background for a logo or sticker.
- A form, template or design tool only accepts PNG.
What is JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) is the most widely supported photo format in the world. It uses lossy compression, which throws away fine detail the eye is unlikely to notice so that files stay small. It does not support transparency, so transparent areas become a solid colour. It is best for photos, email attachments, and anywhere maximum compatibility matters.
What is PNG?
PNG is a lossless format: every pixel is stored exactly, so text, logos and screenshots stay perfectly sharp. It supports full transparency (an alpha channel). The trade-off is size — a PNG photo is often several times larger than the same photo saved as JPG. It is best for screenshots, logos, icons, graphics with text, and images that need transparency.

Private by design
Many online converters upload your photos to a remote server, process them there, and keep a copy for some period of time. This tool works differently: the conversion code runs inside your browser tab, using the same image engine your browser already uses to display pictures. Your JPG files are read from your disk, re-encoded as PNG in memory, and handed straight back to you. Nothing is sent over the network, which makes the tool safe for personal photos, ID scans and work documents — and it keeps working even if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
Tips for the best results
- Converting to PNG will not make a blurry or heavily compressed JPG look sharper — it only stops further quality loss.
- Very large images (above about 50 megapixels) may fail on phones with limited memory. Try a computer, or shrink them first with the Image Resizer.
- Need a smaller file instead of a different format? Use the Image Compressor.
Frequently asked questions
Is this JPG to PNG converter free?
Yes. It is completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens inside your web browser using the built-in Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, which also makes it fast.
Can I convert many JPG files at once?
Yes. Select or drop as many files as you like, then use "Download all" to save every converted PNG.
Will converting JPG to PNG reduce quality?
No. PNG is lossless, so the converted file looks exactly like the JPG you started with. It cannot restore detail that was already lost in the original, though.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. It works in any modern browser — Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge — on phones, tablets and computers.
