How to merge PDF files
- Click the box or drag two or more PDF files onto it.
- Arrange them with the ↑ and ↓ buttons. The first file in the list becomes the first pages of the result.
- Click Merge PDFs. The combined document downloads straight away.
Why merge PDFs?
Applications, reports and paperwork often arrive as a pile of separate PDF files — a cover letter, a CV, transcripts, a signed form, a scanned ID. Many portals only allow a single upload, and reviewers appreciate one tidy document rather than six attachments. Merging also makes archiving easier: a year of monthly statements becomes one searchable file.
Your documents stay private
PDFs frequently contain sensitive information — salaries, account numbers, signatures, medical details. Most online PDF tools upload your files to their servers to process them. This tool instead loads a small PDF library into your browser tab and does the work locally. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing to be stored, leaked or deleted later. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will keep working.
Tips
- Merged files are about as large as all the originals added together. If the result is too big to email, try reducing the size of any scanned images first.
- Have photos or scans rather than PDFs? Convert them with JPG to PDF, then merge.
- Password-protected files must be unlocked before merging.
Frequently asked questions
How many PDFs can I merge?
There is no fixed limit. Everything runs on your device, so the practical limit is your device memory — hundreds of pages are fine on a typical computer.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Merging happens in your browser using the open-source pdf-lib library. Your documents never leave your device, which makes it safe for contracts, bank statements and personal records.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Encrypted PDFs cannot be merged until the password protection is removed. Open the file with its password in your PDF reader and save an unprotected copy first.
Will the merged PDF lose quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are — text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed.
Do links and form fields survive?
Page content, text and images are kept. Interactive form fields and some internal links may not carry over between documents.
